Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is a surgical procedure performed to reshape the entire lower back and hip area and improve its appearance. This is done via a two-step process that involves removing fat and transporting it to the buttocks. The first step uses liposuction to collect fat cells and remove them from problematic areas. The second step carefully inserts the fat cells into the buttocks area according to the patient’s request. The approach gives the butts a rounder perkier appearance.
Brazilian butt lift uses several approaches that target problem areas in different locations on the body.
BBL Procedure
Pre-Surgery
If your BBL is targeting large areas of your buttocks, you may need general anesthesia. Otherwise, local anesthesia with sedation can suffice.
Surgery
Your surgeon will begin by removing fat from other areas using liposuction. Common donor sites for fat cells include:
- Stomach
- Thighs
- Back
To perform liposuction, your doctor will have to make small incisions on target areas. Then using a cannula your doctor will break down the fat and extract it.
Before injecting the fat into your buttocks, your doctor will first purify it. Once that’s done, next comes the systematic injection of the fat into the buttocks to achieve a rounder look. This process will require 3 to 5 incisions on the buttocks. All the incisions in a BBL will be closed using sutures.
Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery
You can resume your daily activities 2 days after surgery. Any bruising and swelling will disappear within days.
Follow the instructions below for a smooth recovery:
- Avoid Strenuous exercise for a month after a BBL
- Avoid sitting on your butt for 2 weeks following a Brazilian butt lift
- Sleep on your side until your wounds heal
Results of Brazilian Butt Lift
Results of BBL are immediate but will look better over time as the swelling & bruising subside. If you maintain your weight, the results of BBL can be long-lasting.
You may need more than one BBL procedure to achieve your aesthetic goals.
BBL Candidates
Generally, you can make for a suitable candidate for BBL if:
- You have no past of poor wound healing
- You are in fairly good health
- You want to reshape your hip and butt areas
- Have areas of unwanted fat
Duration of Brazilian Butt Lift
The time interval of the Brazilian butt lift varies from 1 and half hours to 4 hours depending on the desired appearance.
